K9 Ultrasound

In 2009, Dr. Gillis moved to Aiken, SC, and was asked to also perform canine musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations to address the problem of recurrent injury by providing accurate diagnostic images to determine the nature and extent of the initial injury and to document healing progress so that rational treatment and exercise plans could be developed. Since 2009, she has performed over 3,500 lameness and ultrasound examinations of dogs with injuries including partial ACL rupture, iliopsoas injury, shoulder damage, etc., and has helped to develop successful rehabilitation plans for those patients.

Dr. Gillis is a charter member of a new board specialty in Sports Medicine, the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. She currently has a consulting practice in Ultrasound and Sports Medicine in Aiken, SC.
